Do you remember when...

Do you remember when you first experienced a mirror? I don't know exactly when I first noticed or saw a mirror but lately I have been trying to figure out what exactly a mirror is. When I was younger I was a little too self centered (now I'm just a little self centered ;-)) and just saw a mirror as an way to check myself out. But now I am exactly looking at the mirror and trying to determine why it works and why I can't just walk through it. Mom has a large mirror on her closet door and I see myself and I see dad but when I walk towards him I run into the door. When I walk around the door he isn't there.

On another note I have been a little booger today and I don't really know why. I think I might have a cold and I'm just being a little testy. It could also be the fact that I asked mom and dad last week if I could get a cell phone. They wanted to know why but I didn't have a good justification other than the internet during the day doesn't keep me busy enough and all the other dogs have them. I'm still without a cell phone and because of that I am revolting against them as a normal teenage would.

Dad is also sick and is coughing his head off downstairs watching the hockey game. So I think I will go down there and keep him company.

My First Kill (at least something big enough to post about)

This is going to be short because my paws are tired from a 1 hr walk and 2 hrs of playing with Aunt Callie and Uncle Carsen. This afternoon I finally got my first kill as a Westie. I have killed ants, spiders, flies, rollie pollies, and whatever else is unfortunate enough to be walking on the ground. I got myself a snake today. At first it scared the #2 out of me, but after the initial shock and awe I killed the unfortunate soul. Ha Ha Ha.

Anyways here's a picture of my successful kill.

Here is a photo of me with a goofy grin after my kill.

A Dog's Thoughts

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for too long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have work, your friends, your entertainment. I HAVE ONLY YOU!

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll NEVER forget it.

7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun too long or my heart may be getting old and weak.

9. Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will grow old.

10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch," or "Let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, I love you.

Surprise Surprise It’s Grandma Jennifer

So, usually mom comes home around noon everyday to let me out and run around for about an hour before going back to work. Today was no different or so I thought. The garage opened (that means she’s home, so I got all excited) and then shortly later the front door opened. Then I hear foot steps and then the foot steps turned the corner and it wasn’t mom’s face that I saw but Grandma Jennifer. I hadn’t seen her since she “babysat” me for the day and I haven’t been asked back.

I strutted to the back door (I don’t walk, I strut) and then I saw my Aunt Babe (aka Border Collie) and Aunt Amy in the backyard. Aunt Babe came to the door and I wanted out so badly I kept pawing at the window, but Grandma couldn’t figure out the security locks on the door. She noticed my increasing anticipation to get outside, so she picked me up and carried me around the house to the backyard. They eventually figured out how to open the backyard. Aunt Babe and I played around with the ball and football for over an hour before I they took me on a walk around the block and put back in my crate, so they could go back home.

Dad came home about 1.5 hrs later and I was exhausted. I ate my food and then I just wanted to nap. Dad and I hit the new trundle bed upstairs and slept for about 30 mins. before mom called. I spent the rest of the evening barking at the birds, getting a walk around the neighborhood again, and helped dad wash his golf clubs downstairs. From what I’ve seen the backyard, Dad is going to be the next Tiger Woods.

What a week its been

First off, I need to apologize for the lack of written blogs lately, but it has just been way too nice outside to be sitting around all day on a computer. Secondly, I need to apologize if this entry gets a little off subject or rambly because I'm nursing a serious hangover this morning. Last night was probably my best human friends birthday. Happy Birthday J Wo. Anyways, I was able to sneak into Crescent Moon last night with mom and dad. It's a lot harder for dogs to get over a hang over. It's not like my normal food or water is going to cure it. Thank goodness for the crappy weather today. This will allow me to stay in and just sleep.

It's been a very busy week. You know I'm an avid gardener as you can see in a photo from a previous post. Last Sunday, mom helped me plant "Impatients" all around the flower beds and dad helped my lift the two new Sargent Craptrees into their hole that I dug with my paws (2.5' x 1'). I then planted our vegetable garden (not sure why I did this because I'm not going to get to eat any of it) and finished prepping the rest of the beds up for mulch. When it was all said and done yesterday, dad, myself, and a neighbor (dad miscalculated how much mulch we needed and so the neighbor took dad to get more in his pickup truck) had placed 10 CY of mulch. I will have to post photos of the flowers beds here when it gets done raining.

I finished up the week yesterday with supervising some roofers who installed some new roof vents and replaced the chimney flashing. Hector and Chewy were really nice even though I have no idea what they said to me. Also, NFM delivered two new pieces of furniture for me to nap on. A bed with a trundle upstairs and a huge sectional in the basement. I love the sectional because I hop up on one end and walk over everyone to get to the other end. Now the 27" TV looks too small. Better talk dad into buying a new one.

It's time for me to go take some Tylenol and drink some Gatorade (kidding), but I am going to go nap. Have you ever noticed I love to nap. I got that from my mom. Oh by the way, don't forget Mothers day tomorrow. I know I'll be thinking of my natural mother, where ever she may be.

Peace Out

You Can't Handle This

I am a “terrier” breed or better known as “terror” breed and according to my dad I am his little “terror”. Yesterday was an experience that I may never ever get to experience again. I spent the day with my pirate Aunt (she only has one good eye, so she keeps her bad eye shut) and my crazy grandma at their house. My day included 5 walks, 4 hours of playing outside and 20 minutes napping. I would have loved 1 walk, 4 hours of playing and the rest of the time relaxing and napping. I love napping/sleeping but as long as it’s on a blanket, couch, bed, or carpet. My only choice yesterday was ceramic tile. That just isn’t comfortable and for that reason if I couldn’t nap no one else was going to nap and I let them know that. Honestly, I weigh 17 lbs on a good day. I’m only 18 inches long and 8 inches off the ground. I don’t take up that much room, let me sleep somewhere comfortable.

Well, Dad picked me up after work and I was so tired I thought my legs were going to fall off. I didn’t whine or bark in the car, I just sat there and even fell asleep in the car on the way home. Once I got home I got that comfort feeling that you humans get when you’ve been on vacation for awhile and you can’t wait for your own bed to sleep in. That is how I felt. I slept 2 out of 5 hrs once I got home and still went to bed at 9ish last night. It was a fun, exhausting, life changing experience kind of day.

One last thing to say is that I love being I N D E P E N D E N T.

Check out the chorus to my latest song that drops next week.
