I'm A Tick Magnet

It was an adventurous weekend for me. Saturday dad and I spent the morning walking at Standing Bear Lake (dad refers to it as Dam Site 16). Besides getting a little rained on it was fun. Nice wide trail with new concrete. I even got into the lake. Just up to my belly though because it was cold.

On Sunday mom and dad took me to Cunningham Lake (again, dad refers to it as Dam Site 11). This walk wasn't as pleasant. It was warm yesterday afternoon and the trail really sucked. I have posted a few pictures below from my water break. Dad and mom planned ahead and brought me water this time.

I wish I could say that was the whole story. Unfortunately, during my adventures in the long grass ( I don't always care to walk on the trails) I received 5 ticks. 3 of which were found on me and the other 2 crawled off me while dad and I were napping and he found them on him. Which lead to a bath for me and some tick medicine (I was due for my monthly dose on Monday, lucky me).

A Night Out With Dad

Tonight, dad and I spent the evening together. I had been pretty mellow all day long because of waking up at 4:30 this morning. I haven’t been sleeping very well lately with all of the fireworks, especially when they are still going on at 4:30 in the morning. Needless to say, dad knew that at some point I would regain all of my energy and become a pest again. That point came as soon as mom stepped out the door to go to Shakespeare on the Green. Dad and I shared a few adult beverages together outside while playing ball and chasing each other around the yard. We then did the same thing inside minus the adult beverages because we ran out (1 bottle doesn’t go very far between the two of us). We then went to Zestos together, where once again the line was extremely long and I let them know about it. Those girls inside could hear my bark through 2 panes of glass. On a side note, dad took a new way to Zestos and I’m glad he did because they usually way had a State Trooper surprise road block. State Troopers and a slurring Westie don’t go together. Well, we made it home in one piece and no one was stuck in the clink for the night.

Once home, I sat on the driveway and let the little kids’ next door manhandle me. Unfortunately, that is when dad realized I had gotten into the day lilies outside because my head and body are spotted with yellow and orange spots (I guess I’ll be getting a bath tomorrow). Dad finished his ice cream and with a new wardrobe change (harness and longer leash) we went over to the neighbors and dad chatted away. I just say there again and let the kids manhandle me. I’m so nice. Well, those damn fireworks are going off again and I’m hoping dad slips me a sleeping pill tonight.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth. I’ll leave you with a photo of me from yesterday’s celebration.

Peace Out,
Ruff Ruff

PS – I got a new crate today, which is bigger than my old one. I’ll let you know how it works out.

I've Been Tagged

Rules: Answer the following questions about yourself. At the end of the post you pass on the questions to 6 other bloggers and list their names. Then write them a comment telling them that they've been tagged and ask them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know that you've accepted the challenge and refer to your post.

1. What did you do 10 years ago?
Well, 10 years ago I wasn’t a Westie. I am currently living my second life, but before this I was a German Shepherd. So, 10 years ago I would’ve been a 3 years old and living the life of a German Sheppard. I was part of the K-9 unit for LAX. How I become a Westie living in Omaha in my second life is beyond me.

2. Five items on your to-do list today:
Go #1
Go #2
Take a nap
Annoy my parents
Catch live prey/Eat

3. Snacks I enjoy:
Milk Bones
Rabbit
Bird
Snakes

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?
I would build a gigantic bed full of down pillows and blankets. Buy a set of grills for my pearly whites. Lots of bling.

5. Places I would live:
Deserted island, Mansions without stairs (moving walkways preferred)

6. Bloggers I am passing the challenge onto:
No one. I don’t know any other bloggers. But if you read this, feel free to post this on your blog.
